The Department of Commerce commenced from the inception of the college in 2008 with two undergraduate programs B.Com (Regular), B.Com (Computer Science) and introduced B.Com (Computer Applications) in 2017 with an intake of 50 students in each program. B.Com (Honors) was introduced in the academic year 2021-22. The total number of students in B.Com programs currently are 430.
The department has well qualified and experienced faculty members specializing in multiple areas of the discipline. The department creates a stimulating environment for excellent academic growth of students.
To hone the skills of students, the department encourages Real time exposures through industrial trips, Skills development courses and statistical surveys to work on their hands-on skills and introduce them to new ideas.
By conducting national and international seminars, workshops, Quiz competitions, Intra & Inter collegiate competitions, Mock Bank and other student activities, the department aims to foster a dynamic learning environment and also cultivates practical skills and professional competencies among students.
Furthermore, the Department conducts Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and Professional Development Programs (PDPs) to enhance the skills and knowledge of faculty members. These initiatives aim to improve teaching methodologies, keep faculty updated on industry trends and fosters a culture of continuous learning in the department.
