Alan Turing Club

Physical Sciences - Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Electronics and Computer Science

Alan Turing Club was formed in the year 2018-19, and is named after Alan Mathison Turing, an English Mathematician, Computer Scientist, Logician, Cryptanalyst, Philosopher and Theoretical Biologist. He is considered the father of Theoretical Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Alan Turing Club aims to foster a community of like-minded individuals who share a passion for exploration and discovery. The club comprises all the physical science departments viz; Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Electronics and Computer Science.

Objectives

  • Promote inquisitiveness and inculcate scientific temper among the students
  • Encourage, motivate and equip the students in application of science and its interface with society

Luca Pacioli Club

Department of Commerce

The club started in the year 2016-17 as Commerce Club with a vision to provide the students of various streams knowledge of business acumen and a platform to showcase their talents in the financial Arena. In the year 2018-19, the club was renamed as Luca Pacioli Club after the famous Italian Accountant and Mathematician Luca Pacioli.

Objectives

  • Provide real time exposure to students in the field of Business
  • Boost the confidence of students by engaging them in career building activities
  • Create awareness of business and financial activities among students of science and arts streams
  • Help students interact with industry professionals

Peter Drucker Club

Department of Management

The Department of Management established the Peter Drucker Club in the year 2019-20 to honour Peter Ferdinand Drucker, Austrian-born, American Management Consultant, Educator, and Author.

The club seeks to motivate and promote coordination, discipline, and leadership qualities, and develop an interest in co-curricular activities among students.

Objectives

  • Improve communication, coordination and define areas of interest that encourage entrepreneurial, managerial, organisational, HR, and public relation skills
  • Empower innovation and team spirit among students
  • Engage students to go beyond theoretical knowledge, gain practical knowledge about business practices
  • Reinforce a positive work environment to withstand the challenges in the corporate world
  • Inculcate skills and techniques of various tools of management for the attainment of organisational goals
  • Emphasise the importance of planning for long-term success and also play a key role in guiding and directing the young managers

Life Sciences - Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Biotechnology and Microbiology

Life Sciences Club was started in the year 2018-19, and was named as Johann Mendel Club, to honour the famous Geneticist and 'Father of Genetics' Gregor Johann Mendel.

The club aims to develop inquiring minds and curiosity about science and the natural world.

Objectives

  • To stimulate curiosity about life sciences, and develop a genuine interest in scientific activities for the sustainable development of applied sciences
  • To create awareness of the global dimension of science as a universal activity
  • To develop empirical knowledge about science and technology for innovation and solutions to preserve ecosystems

Horizon serves as a convergence platform for liberal arts and fine arts, inspired by Aristotle's quote: "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all."
