Faculty of Modern language
The Department of Arts incorporated the faculty of Modern Language (English) in the year 2011- 12 along with Political Science and Psychology. It aims to expand ethical and intercultural values that prepare them to transfer a diverse range of perspectives.
Reading literature opens up a world of inspiration and creativity, while also developing skills that are essential for today’s global environment (Professionalism, Work ethics, Critical thinking, Communication Skills). It is also a prospect to sharpen one’s ability to write, read, analyze and influence. Through reading and writing, students develop their skills of critical analysis, interpretation and self-expression.
Various Seminars and Conferences conducted by the faculty expose students to new horizons, such as creative writing, and invite them to consider various topics in literary study: Literature and Film, Literature and Gender, Literature and the Visual Arts, Publishing, Research etc.
Students become better thinkers as they read and respond to a variety of literary texts from the genres of prose, poetry and drama. They travel to other realms and times through the texts they read and understand about their own culture and others’. Importantly, they learn to consider multiple perspectives and understand the complexity of human nature and the world. Through our engagement with critical inquiry, teaching, and service the faculty strives to fulfill LFDC’s primary mission to achieve academic excellence and holistic development of an individual.
