Faculty of English

The Faculty of English has been an integral component of Little Flower Academia since its inception. Its mission is to foster proficiency in English language usage, cultivate a passion for literary pursuits, and recognize the pivotal role of English as a global language. Through its efforts, the faculty endeavours to enhance competency in Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing (LSRW) skills in various disciplines including Bachelors of Arts, Sciences, Management, and Commerce at Little Flower Degree College.

The faculty diligently upholds a harmonious equilibrium between tradition and modernity, as well as between academic pursuits and cultural enrichment. Students are actively encouraged to engage in a diverse array of language and literary competitions, encompassing a spectrum of intellectual and artistic endeavours. These opportunities provide a platform for honing their linguistic prowess, fostering critical thinking skills, and nurturing a vibrant spirit of creativity and expression.

The faculty is committed to advancing these objectives through a multitude of activities aimed at instilling essential skills and facilitating students' progress in their chosen disciplines through comprehensive knowledge and proficient usage of the language.

Objectives

  • To Organise Intra and Inter Collegiate competitions to nurture creativity and confidence.
  • To Conduct Seminars and webinars to educate students about contemporary global trends and prepare them for the evolving demands of the modern world.
  • To Develop critical thinking with exposure to real-life and contextual aspects of language through activities such as role-plays, discussions, etc.
  • To Include soft skills and value orientation in the curriculum to enhance students’ behavioural and moral aspects.
  • To Enhance communicative competence to better equip them for career prospects in diverse fields.
  • To Empower students with a platform for expression and exploration through the crafting and publication of the student magazine ‘In’Sight, cultivating creativity, journalistic skills and promoting a sense of community engagement.
