Orientation for 2nd and 3rd year Students

An Orientation Program was organized for the II and III year students by the Management on 20th June 2018. The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp and prayer by the students. Vice-Principal, Ms. Jayanthi Reddy welcomed the students, instructed them regarding the rules and regulations of the College and made few announcements regarding the new class incharges and class allotments. Principal, Rev. Bro. Vincent Reddy, in his welcome address emphasized on the importance of goal in life. He especially reminded the students that the five years of Intermediate and Degree are very significant and will “make or mar” your life. He specially mentioned that friends play a big role in our life and we should choose them very carefully. He encouraged the students to “think out of the box” by showing a video. He asked the students to raise doubts and questions, do research by going to the library and surfing the net. He also encouraged students to be punctual, regular and disciplined. The guest speaker for the day, Dr. Padmaja, Assistant Professor, Center for Health Psychology, University of Hyderabad was felicitated with a bouquet. She spoke on the topic “Goal Setting”. She conducted an activity with the students to make them realize why we miss the mark in our lives often. She spoke about goal attainment by giving the formula, Aspiration + Motivation + Effort= Goal Attainment. She emphasized on the importance of perseverance and self-analysis, along with sustained, focused and structured efforts. She spoke at length on why people won’t set goals and reminded that “If you believe it you can do it”. She spoke on the ABCD’s of goal setting which are Ability, Belief in self, Consistency in planned efforts and Discipline. A SMART goal is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound. She asked the students to FRAME their goals- Fantasize, Reality, Aim, Method and Evaluation. It was followed by a lecture by Mr. Raghavender who spoke on “Career beyond Graduation”. He started by reminding the students that around 50-65 lakhs of graduates are produced in our country every year. He guided the students to make the right choice in career by asking two questions- a)What am I good at? and b)What do I like to do? This would give them a killer career combination. He suggested they follow GAP analysis by asking themselves- a) Where am I today? and b) Where do I want to reach? This gap can be filed by more focused preparation and skill development. He told the students that its not their education that will give them their dream job but three very important skills which every company seeks in a candidates irrespective of their subject of study. The three skills are – Problem Solving skills, Logical Thinking skills and Basic Communication skills. Thereafter, Mr. Goutham Murthy also addressed the students regarding various career options after graduation. The program ended with vote of thanks.

An Orientation Program was organized I year students by the Management on 9th July 2018. The program commenced with the lighting of the lamp and prayer by the students. The Chief Guest of the day was Dr. K. S. Ratnakar, Director Global Medical Education and Research Foundation of Global Hospitals. Principal Rev. Bro. Vincent Reddy in his welcome address to the students spoke of the history of Montford Institutions which goes back 500 years ago when it was founded by Monford Brothers of St. Gabriel. He encouraged the students to continue the legacy of Montford family. He reminded the students the students that even though today they are attending their Orientation program, they would be attending the Graduation ceremony. During their time in the college, he reminded them to follow the discipline of college by being punctual and regular, making good choice of friends, steering clear of distractions and work hard so that instead of getting hired all their life, they reach a position where they hire others. He encouraged the students by showing a video on the story of an eagle conveying the theme of Rebirth. The Chief Guest’s profile was read out and a bouquet was presented to him by Vice-Principal Jayanthi Ma’am. The College’s motto, logo, vision and mission were read out and followed by a video presentation of the previous academic year. Vice-Principal Jayanthi Ma’am spoke to the students about the campus and culture of the college. The Chief Guest, Dr. K. S. Ratnakar addressed the students and asserted that inculcation of right values and principles are as significant as impartation of education. Both parents and teachers are responsible for this at home and college respectively. He asserted on the importance of diligence and self-reliance and reminded the students not to expect the world to give you everything. He spoke on the importance of time and discipline. In the end he motivated them not to be slave but be masters, to be like Lion-the King of the jungle and to be like Superman. Principal, Rev. Bro. Vincent Reddy presented a memento to the Chief Guest. The program ended with Vote of Thanks and singing of The National Anthem.
